Algerian Fir

Algerian Fir

The Algerian Fir is a gymnosperm along with other trees including pines and cedars. We enjoy this picture of the fir because its cones are a bright red. Not all cones are this brightly colored. This species is a member of the Genus Abies (Abies numidica) and is originally from Asia Minor. This close-up image also shows you the fleshy needles that are common in conifers.
