Biology4Kids Quiz: Plants

Roots, stems, and leaves are great words to describe the structure of vascular plants. While many of these structures have become specialized over millions of years, they are still present. An oak tree has roots underground, a thick trunk, branches, and leaves at the end of the branches. While a very different structure, a cactus has roots, a thick and water-filled stem, and specialized leaves that have become thorns.
